You and Your Partner are Distant
You keep reaching for your partner, but they just aren’t there.
You soften your tone. You choose your words carefully. You try to stay calm because you know that if you push too hard, they might shut down completely.
But no matter what you do, they retreat. They get guarded. They get defensive. They pull away.
And you get frustrated. And tired. Really tired.
You start wondering if you’re the problem. Maybe if you didn’t take issue with so many things. Maybe if you could just let things go, things would be easier.
So you try. You let things roll off your back. You keep your thoughts to yourself. You tell yourself it’s not worth bringing up.
Until you just can’t hold it in anymore. And then the cycle starts all over again.
You reach. They retreat. You try harder. They pull back further.
Meanwhile, the things you’ve been trying not to talk about are still there. Unresolved. Sitting between you. Getting in the way of the connection you desperately want.
You are exhausted from trying to get through to your partner, and you’re losing hope that things can actually be different.
Because you don’t want to keep fighting.
You just want to feel like you can reach your partner and they will reach back.
Meanwhile Your Partner is...
Trying to keep from rocking the boat.
You want things to be okay between you, and when your partner brings up an issue, you immediately start wondering what you did wrong.
You feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t get it right enough.
So you go into fix-it mode. You want to make things better, but your version of fixing it doesn’t necessarily look like sitting down and talking it all through.
It looks more like going inside yourself and trying to figure out what you need to do differently next time.
You’re trying to make sure your partner doesn’t feel hurt, frustrated, or disappointed with you again. And at the same time, you’re already feeling bad that they felt bad in the first place.
It can feel like there’s no right answer.
So you retreat.
You get quiet. You become guarded. You defend yourself. You pull further and further away, even though that isn’t necessarily what you want.
Because underneath all of it, you don’t want to make things worse. You don’t want to fight. You don’t want to disappoint your partner.
You want to get it right.
But the more you retreat, the more your partner reaches for you. And the more they reach, the more overwhelmed and pressured you feel.
And before you know it, you’re both caught in the same cycle, each trying to protect yourself while accidentally creating more distance between you.
You don’t want to keep shutting down.
You just want to feel like you can be in the hard conversations without feeling like you’ve failed.
What you Both Actually want is...
You want a partner who gets you.
You want to have the hard conversations without getting stuck in them. To work through the tough stuff and actually feel closer on the other side.
You want to feel supported, seen, and understood by your partner. You want conflict to feel manageable instead of something that keeps pulling you apart.
But you also want more than just getting along.
You want to laugh together. Have fun together. Feel connected, cherished, and excited about the life you’re building together.
You want to look at your partner and know that whatever life throws your way, you’re in this together.
Not because your relationship will always be easy, but because you it’s worth it.
Your Relationship Needs A RESET!
I have designed these intensives with you in mind! I have created a set up that will allow us to tailor the intensive experience to meet the needs of your relationship. I believe that for many it is much “easier” to give 100% of themselves to processing intensely for a few hours over a few days to get the ball rolling. These intensives are designed to help you get the most benefit while getting support and increased relief. Starting with an intensive gives you and your partner room to gain traction into the relationship you both want to cultivate.
What if we could make your dream a reality?
I know you don’t want to argue. That you are tired of feeling alone and at odds with your partner. When you and your partner take the time an effort to fulling invest in your relationship…your dream of having connection, getting each other and being able to support each other becomes possible. This is an opportunity for the two of you to really see where a supportive relationship can go.
You Want a Solution That’s Proven to Work
Why a Couples Intensive?
When you have been stuck in the same relationship patterns for months or even years, an hour of couples therapy each week can sometimes feel like it isn’t enough.
An intensive gives us the time and space to go deeper, faster. Instead of spending weeks trying to understand what keeps happening between you, we can focus on the patterns underneath the conflict, what each of you is experiencing, and what you are both longing for in the relationship.
But understanding your pattern is only the beginning.
Change takes practice.
You may leave an intensive thinking, “We finally get it,” and then find yourselves falling back into the same argument a few days later. That doesn’t mean the intensive didn’t work. It means you are trying to change patterns that have likely been practiced for years.
That is where weekly therapy becomes so valuable.
Weekly sessions give you a place to bring what is actually happening at home. You can practice new ways of communicating, get support when you get stuck, repair after difficult conversations, and learn how to recognize your cycle before it takes over.
The intensive creates momentum. Weekly therapy helps make the change stick.
You aren’t just investing in a weekend of therapy. You are investing in changing the way the two of you relate to each other.
The goal isn’t simply to have a productive intensive.
It is to build a relationship that feels different when you go home.

FAQ about Couples Intensives
How often do you do an intensive?
I cannot tell you what the right fit for you is but I can help you discover what that might be.
I can tell you that most people do a whole day for their first intensive and from there we set up to appropriate therapy support to help them continue to flourish.
Most couples I work with start with an intensive and follow up with weekly 90 minute sessions to solidify all the effort they put in.
What if I need a break during the intensive?
You are welcome to take a break whenever you need. Rest assured that we will also take well timed breaks throughout this process and discuss this together during the intake.
Can I use insurance for an intensive?
No, intensives and the couples modalities are not typically covered by insurance companies. However, if you know something about your insurance that I have not encountered I am happy to provide a super bill.
What if it isn't a good fit?
You and your partner want something that will work for the two of you. If this isn’t a good fit after we do the intake process we won’t move forward with the intensive and instead get you a refund.
